The Governor wants Michigan to be substantially more focused on direct cash assistance to severely poor families when spending federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) dollars
The State Board of Education tabled a resolution Tuesday that would oppose portions of the Fiscal year 2025 budget proposed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and heard highlights that would pull literacy supports from the department.
During Wednesday's budget presentation, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer trumpeted that her administration will have paid off $21 billion in public employees and school employee retirement debt by the end of Fiscal Year 2025, according to Department of Technology, Management and Budget numbers.
