The polices governing Michigan's cannabis industry may be loosening slightly after a draft of rules changes the Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) is proposing was sent for review before the public comment period.

Cannabis insiders say the Michigan cannabis market could soon be past the saturation point, and as other state markets come online it could plateau the amount of tax pulled down by the state.

Last month, Michigan emerged as the top seller of legal cannabis in the country. Now, Rep. Graham Filler (R-St. Johns) is reviving an effort to ease the state’s regulatory burden on marijuana retailers.

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland put forth a proposal to reclassify cannabis from a schedule I drug, along with heroin, to a schedule III drug, with some codeine combinations, which could change some rules in the Michigan industry.
