Former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers is polling well ahead of other Republican candidates for Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat

Dearborn voter’s decision to vote 57 percent “uncommitted” in Tuesday’s presidential primary gave national and state political types something to glom onto in an otherwise ho-hum Dem primary.

During Tuesday night's presidential primary, 30 of the 161 local tax issues failed, including the boldest proposal on the ballot, a $58.4 million bond for Almont Community Schools, which serves Lapeer, St. Clair, Macomb and Oakland counties.

The Kristina Karamo faction of the Michigan Republican Party (MRP) is prepared to vote as soon as Saturday at the Huntingon Place venue in Detroit on a first-ever party constitution, which would eliminate nearly all public primary elections in favor of a delegate-focused system.

It won’t be just voting to see a rematch of President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump on Feb. 27. Voters in most Michigan counties will also be considering a combined $1.04 billion in local millage, bond and other tax issues.
