The faction of the Michigan Republican Party (MRP) State Committee that voted Friday to remove Kristina Karamo from the chairmanship on Jan. 6 has elected former Congressman and U.S. ambassador to the Netherlands Pete Hoekstra to lead the party.

A trolling email using the moniker “Unshackle the Mitten” asked Republican precinct delegates in a mass Wednesday email if they stand with disputed Michigan Republican Party Chair Kristina Karamo so she can “continue the work of God.”
