In an ideal world, the governor of Michigan would make at least $200,000 and the Attorney General would make closer to $250,000, the chair of the State Officers Compensation Commission (SOCC) told MIRS Monday.

Attorney General Dana Nessel was asked by MIRS about the difference between her preemptive decision to not enforce the 1931 abortion ban back in 2022 and Livingston County Sheriff Michael Murray’s announcement that he wouldn't enforce “red flag” legislation in his county after it became law.
