(Source: MIRS.news, Published 01/14/2026) U.S. Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-Holly) confirmed on Wednesday that she’s been asked to volunteer for an interview with federal prosecutors in Washington, D.C. over her participation in a video reminding military and intelligence communities they can refuse illegal military orders.
In a video posted to X, Slotkin said U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro’s request is a move from President Donald Trump’s playbook.

“Truth doesn’t matter. Facts don’t matter and anyone who disagrees with him becomes an enemy and then weaponizes the federal government against them,” she said.
Slotkin was one of six military veterans who participated in the video, which led Trump to call for them to be investigated, arrested and charged. He also called for them to be hanged.
Slotkin said she’s received more than 1,000 threats since Trump’s comments, and of those, more than 100 “were credible” and are being investigated.
Slotkin’s parents also were victims of swatting and her siblings had to have police vehicles in their driveways, she said.
Later in the day, Slotkin's campaign sent out a fundraising pitch titled “Under Investigation” based on Wednesday’s news.
“As a former CIA officer, I've seen democracies flicker out,” she wrote. "I’ve seen what life is like when a government is rigged. I’ve studied this kind of political authoritarianism in other countries where you can't criticize the guys in charge without getting a knock at the door in the middle of the night.
"It’s hard to believe I am talking about it in my own country, and the knock is happening on my door.
“I've always tried to be straight with you in these emails. When these threats happen, it requires a strategy — because no American wants to live in a country where the president can weaponize the government against his perceived enemies.”
