(Source: MIRS.news, Published 02/06/2026) It's old news that America today is deeply divided along a lot of different fault lines.

It's new news, however, that a huge majority of citizens believe Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents should be required to wear body cameras, much like many local cop shops, which have routinely done this for years.

A Quinnipiac national poll of more than 1,100 self-described registered voters shows 92% favor the policy, including 83% of the Republicans, which is only 16 points below the Democratic support at 99%. Among independents, 94% believe body cameras are a good idea and should be mandatory. The usual gender gap is closer than you might expect. Men 89%. Women 95%.

However, the numbers drop off significantly when it comes to agents wearing masks. The polling shows 61% think they should be unmasked and 35% favor the current mask policy. The political divide is apparent on this one: 73% of Republicans see nothing wrong with masking up compared to 6% of the Democrats who concur. Among independents, 32% agree with the R's on facial covering.

The number of respondents who approve of the way ICE officers are enforcing the law has dropped by 6 percentage points from 40% in January to 34% in the February survey. Conversely, the negative numbers have increased from 57% disapproval last month to 63% now.

These findings are against the backdrop of a nation with 49% of the voters very dissatisfied with how things are going in the country compared to 14% who believe the country is doing just fine, and they are very satisfied.

The margin of error is 3.6% in this February national temperature-taking.
