(Source: MIRS.news, Published 07/23/2026) Officers with at least three federal law enforcement agencies and the Michigan State Police executed search warrants Thursday in Muskegon County as part of an active financial and drug investigation.
It is not clear how many or where the raids took place, but WOOD TV 8 reported that Muskegon County Prosecutor D.J. Hilson confirmed that Muskegon Heights City Hall is one location.

Te D. Smith, city attorney for Muskegon Heights, confirmed the execution of a search warrant, noting that representatives from his office “were present to observe the process and assist in ensuring that the legal rights and protections afforded to city officials and employees were respected.”
Smith said he’s been in contact with Hilson’s office, and those communications represent the city’s “commitment to maintaining appropriate coordination with prosecutorial authorities while protecting the city’s legal interests.”
Both Hilson and Smith said investigations of this nature take time.
Hilson announced the probe by the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Drug Enforcement Administration and Internal Revenue Service in a post on Facebook that said the U.S. Attorney’s Office also is participating.
“This is an active financial and drug crime investigation. Therefore, our ethical duties, as well as protecting the integrity of this investigation, limit our ability at this time to disclose specific details,” Hilson’s letter reads.
Hilson’s post didn’t identify locations, but TV 8 also reported that a viewer reported seeing an armored vehicle with DEA markings, one MSP officer and a number of unmarked police vehicles in a neighborhood along Riordan Street near East Hackley Avenue.
