(Source: MIRS.news, Published 06/23/2025) Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council (EIBC) President Laura Sherman said she was "extremely disappointed" over the rumor that Gov. Gretchen Whitmer would not reappoint Alessandra Carreon to the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC).
The EIBC cited a report from The Detroit News on June 2 that two anonymous sources claimed Carreon would not be reappointed after she finished out the remainder of her appointed term.

"She has taken a measured approach to cases before the Commission and has exhibited a deep curiosity and passion for equity and clean energy issues," Sherman said.
Carreon was appointed in 2023 to fill out the remainder of the term left by Tremaine PHILLIPS, who resigned his position after his wife was offered a job in Ohio.
Her term ends July 2 and the next MPSC meeting is scheduled for July 10.
"The state of Michigan has more than 230 boards and commissions. Gov. Whitmer takes the appointment process seriously. Our office reviews boards and commissions on a rolling basis," Office of Governor Press Secretary Stacey LeRouche said in a statement.
LeRouche said in the statement that the office would issue an announcement when any appointment or reappointment was made for the boards and commissions.
"No matter who the next commissioner is, Michigan EIBC will continue to represent the voice of the advanced energy industry across the state, including at the commission," Sherman said.
