(Source: MIRS.news, Published 04/25/2025) Pranks intended to be harmless sometimes have unintended real-world consequences.
Rep. Julie Brixie (D-Okemos)’s assigned parking spot has been moved from the Roosevelt garage to the Townsend garage on the other side of the Capitol and her floor speech privileges have been revoked, according to a House Republican source.

Brixie was informed on Friday, according to the source, that she would be parking in a different ramp and would no longer be able to give floor speeches after she indicated that she’d be recognizing a school group last Thursday by holding up an orange slip of paper commonly used for those recognitions.
However, Brixie said a car with the personalized license plate “MMADD” parked in the Roosevelt lot had its lights on, hood open and engine running. In reality, the car belonging to Rep. Matt Maddock (R-Milford) was double-parked in her assigned space, so Brixie cling-wrapped the car as a prank and made the announcement to get Maddock outside to find his car wrapped in plastic.
The car, a BMW, has been reported to belong to his wife.
House Republican Communications Director Gideon D’Assandro told MIRS at the time that Maddock was given two spaces this term, 92 and 94, to fit his pickup truck. On Thursday, though, he parked in 90 and 92, the former of the two having been assigned to Brixie.
In security footage released later, Brixie is seen with a staffer who is recording her wrapping the car. According to the source, that staffer bikes to work and was previously allowed to put her bike in the garage under the House Office Building, but will now be asked to lock her bike on public racks.
