Brixie Cling-Wraps Maddock's Car During Session

(Source: MIRS.news, Published 04/17/2025) Rep. Julie Brixie (D-Okemos) wrapped Rep. Matt Maddock (R-Milford)’s car in plastic cling wrap on Thursday while it was parked in the House of Representatives-owned parking garage, a discovery made during session, which Brixie told MIRS was in good fun.A black car parked in a parking garage.

“My good colleague from the 51st district parked in two spots, including mine, to make sure no one hit his fancy car. I Saran wrapped it to give it an extra layer of protection,” Brixie said.

Gideon D'Assandro, communications director for the House Republicans, said the speaker's office allotted Maddock two spaces, #92 and #94, because he usually drives a pickup truck and the corner in the parking garage is difficult to navigate.

However, on Thursday he drove his wife's smaller vehicle and parked in spots #90 and #92, the former of which was allotted to Brixie.

HB 4292 of 2023 sponsored by Rep. Emily Dievendorf (D-Lansing) changed the hands of ownership of the Roosevelt lot from the state to the House of Representatives.

At 12:34 p.m. when the attendance board closed, Brixie’s name was highlighted in green. However, she re-entered the floor next to the press desk on the Republican side of the chamber at 12:50 p.m.

At 1:06 p.m., the presiding officer recognized Brixie who asked for her colleagues’ attention to state that a car with the license plate “MMADD” in the garage owned by the House of Representatives had its lights on, hood open and engine running.

At 1:26 p.m, a MIRS reporter independently confirmed that the above statements weren’t accurate but rather, the car was wrapped in several layers of plastic cling wrap and parked in a way that took up two spots.

“Rep. Brixie makes a false statement otherwise known as a LIE in the presence of the entire Michigan House, after wrapping my car in plastic wrap like a 13-year-old girl. Democrats aren't just soft on crime, like Brixie, they are crime,” said Maddock’s wife, Meshawn MADDOCK, on X.

When asked his initial reaction, Maddock said: “A democrat walks into her psychiatrist's office naked wearing Saran Wrap. The shrink looks up and says, I can clearly say you’re nuts.

“Good thing I don't drive a Tesla, eh?” Maddock told reporters on the floor.

When asked if Maddock is pursuing legal action or filing a police report, he said:

“She keeps trying to get my attention and I keep telling her I'm married,” Maddock said. “When she said she wanted to wrap me in thin plastic because of how obviously frustrated she is, this isn’t what I had in mind.”

In 2021, a different vehicle owned by the Maddocks was stolen out of the same ramp.
