(Source: MIRS.news, Published 07/14/2026) Michigan State Police (MSP) has an open perjury investigation into Col. James F. Grady II and his second-in-command, MIRS has learned.

Elizabeth Abdnouor, an attorney with Abdnour Welker in East Lansing, confirmed that she and her client, Trooper Megan Moryc, met June 12 with an MSP investigator “regarding the perjury allegations against” Lt. Aimee Brimacombe.

“During that interview, Megan provided information … about Grady’s perjury,” the attorney said, noting the investigator “confirmed to us that he would be investigating both sets of perjury investigations.”

Shanon Banner, director of MSP's communications and outreach division, said Moryc “has made allegations as part of a lawsuit of wrongdoing against multiple people, including Col. Grady, and the department is taking the appropriate steps to review the allegations, consistent with standard procedure.” She did not elaborate.

Moryc first asked in April that the department investigate her allegations that Brimacombe lied in a 2025 affidavit claiming she knew nothing about the trooper’s claims in civil lawsuits.

In their 2025 affidavits, both Brimacombe and Grady attested that they did “not have any first-hand or unique knowledge related” to Moryc’s allegations in an Eaton County lawsuit.

However, Moryc’s complaint alleges that internal communications reveal Brimacombe was actively involved in the investigation into Moryc’s allegations that a trooper sexually assaulted her.

Abdnour said that both Brimacombe and Grady “were provided information about the investigations by other MSP employees via email.”

Brimacombe announced her retirement in January, but she did not provide a date.

Brimacombe reportedly noted in her pension application with the Michigan Office of Retirement Services that May 1 was her effective retirement date, and Banner confirmed that Brimacombe “has retired.”

The Eaton County case is on hold while the MSP appeals a lower court’s decision related to evidence.

In Moryc’s federal lawsuit, the parties met Monday with the judge, but no settlement was entered, according to court records.
