(Source: MIRS.news, Published 08/26/22) Four recent polls on Michigan's gubernatorial race has Gov. Gretchen Whitmer consistently around 50% while Republican Tudor Dixon is at 39% at the low end and 46% at the high end.

EPIC-MRA released polling for the Detroit Free Press, TV-6 and other media outlets showing Whitmer leading 50%-39% over Dixon, even though the incumbent's favorable ratings haven't crested 50%. Whitmer's favorability rating is 48% positive and 44% negative, but her job approval rating is 47% positive and 51% negative, according to the Aug. 18-23 survey of 600 likely voters. The margin of error is +/-4%.

The Republican-leaning Trafalgar Group released a 1,080-voter survey conducted Aug. 22-25 for Michigan's News Source that showed Whitmer at 49.4% to Dixon's 45.3% with a 2.9% margin of error. Their universe of voters was 54.5% Democrats, 37.1% Republicans and 8.4% independents.

EPIC's was 39% Republican, 39% Democratic and 17% independents.

Last week, Blueprint Polling had Whitmer up 51%-39% while Fabrizio, Lee & Associates and Impact Research did its survey for AARP that showed a 51%-46% lead for the Democratic incumbent.

The EPIC-MRA poll showed Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson up 44% to 38% over Republican Kristina Karamo and Attorney General Dana Nessel leading Republican Matt DePerno 43% to 39%.

Of those polled, 58% said they consider themselves "pro-choice", meaning "women should have the right to an abortion" while 335 considered themselves "pro-life," meaning "against abortions except to save life of mother." The final 9% were undecided or declined to answer.

The likely November ballot proposal was also polled with the following question:

"There will be a proposal on the November election ballot that if approved by voters, would establish a constitutional amendment that would protect a woman’s right to have an abortion in Michigan. If the election were held today, would you vote 'yes' to support that proposal, or would you vote 'no' to oppose it?"

The yes vote came back at 67% while the no was at 24%.

President Joe Biden's favorability rating is underwater at 38% favorable to 53% unfavorable. Former President Donald Trump's is, too, at 41% favorable and 52% unfavorable.

Around 45% don't recognize either Nessel or Benson's name. Around 78% don't recognize DePerno or Karamo's name.

The survey asked which "state" problem voters were more concerned about. Any option dealing with the economy or inflation was not offered.

Instead, addressing abortion laws was at 19%, education was at 15%, infrastructure was at 12%, gun violence in schools was at 11%, affordable health care was 9%, crime and drugs was 8%, environmental issues was 5% and coronavirus was at 2%. The final 6% were undecided or refused to answer.
