(Source: MIRS.news, Published 01/17/2025) Gov. Gretchen Whitmer Friday appointed former U.S. Rep. Dan Kildee to the Michigan Natural Resources Commission.
Whitmer also appointed Heather Cummings and Paul Cordes to the Michigan Board of State Canvassers.
Kildee, of Flint Township, was recently named president and chief executive officer of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint following his six terms of service in Congress.
Kildee is appointed as a Democrat for a term beginning January 17, 2025 and ending Dec. 31, 2028.
Kildee, who succeeds Thomas Baird, is also appointed as chair of the commission for a term expiring at the pleasure of the Governor.
Cummings, of Novi, is an attorney and founding partner at Cummings Law Group PLC, who specializes in union-side labor law and employment rights at the state and federal level.
Cummings also provides pro bono legal services, including Election Day voter protection efforts; and volunteers as a cooperating attorney for the ACLU of Michigan.
Cordes, of Rockford, is the founder and owner of Pantlind Strategies and the former executive director of the Michigan Republican Party under Chair Ron Weiser.
Cummings is appointed to represent Democrats, while Cordes is appointed to represent Republicans. Their terms begin Feb. 1 and expire Jan. 31, 2029.
Cordes succeeds Anthony Daunt and Cummings succeeds Jeanette Bradshaw.
These appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
