(Source: MIRS.news, Published 07/01/2024) President Joe Biden trails former President Donald Trump by two points when other candidates are put into the mix, according to a poll released Monday morning by the Lansing-based firm of EPIC/MRA.

The poll found that Trump had the support of 41 percent of Michigan voters in an “all candidate” question compared to 38 percent who would support Biden.

Here’s how all the candidate head-to-head breaks out:

- Trump – 39 percent - lean Trump 2 percent - total 41 percent;

- Biden – 34 percent - lean Biden 4 percent - total 38 percent;

- Jill Stein of the Green Party – 1 percent with 1 percent lean – total 2 percent;

- Cornel West, the independent 2 percent - lean West 0 percent - total 2 percent; and

- Robert Kennedy Jr., with the American Independent Party - 8 percent - lean Kennedy 2 percent - total 10 percent.

In a head-to-head with just Trump and Biden, Trump adds one point - 49 percent total Trump and 45 percent total Biden.

Biden continues to struggle with basement-level approval ratings from Michigan voters.  A total of 38 percent view the president favorably, while 57 percent hold an unfavorable view. That compared to an overall approval rating of 53 percent for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

Trump was viewed favorably by 41 percent of Michigan residents and viewed negatively by 54 percent.

Poll respondents were asked what they fear most: Biden continuing as President or Trump returning as President? A total of 40 percent said they fear another Biden term while 36 percent fear another Trump term.

Slotkin Continues To Maintain Lead Over Rogers

 In a head-to-head match up for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by the retiring U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Lansing), U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Holly) holds a 44 percent to 42 percent lead over former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, a Brighton Republican.

In the matchup, a total of 35 percent support Rogers with 7 percent leaning his way, while 39 percent support Slotkin and another 5 percent leaning her way.
