Trump Endorses Huizenga In Same Race As Another Trump-Endorsed Candidate

(Published 03/11/2022 - MIRS.news) Former President Donald TRUMP said Friday he is endorsing U.S. Rep. Bill HUIZENGA (R) in the new 4th Congressional District race, which also features another candidate he endorsed previously.

Rep. Steve CARRA (R-Three Rivers) had earned Trump's endorsement back on Sept. 7, when it looked like Carra was the runaway favorite to face U.S. Rep. Fred UPTON (R St. Joseph), who voted for Trump's impeachment when in office.

Trump wrote at the time, "Steve will continue to fight for Low Taxes and all of the other things that the Great people of Michigan want and need. Steve Carra has my Complete and Total Endorsement" (See "Trump Endorse Karamo; Carra Over Upton," 9/7/22).

Since that time, Carra's Three Rivers residence was drawn into the same district as U.S. Rep. Tim WALBERG (R)  by the Citizens Independent Redistricting Commission and Upton was drawn into the same district as Huizenga.

Carra has since decided to run in this new 4th Congressional District with Upton and Huizenga, but Trump wrote this evening that, "Bill Huizenga has my Complete and Total Endorsement for the newly drawn 4th Congressional District!"

He wrote that Huizenga is "doing a terrific job in Congress" and that "he always puts American First."

Interestingly, Carra was among Michigan politicians who visited Trump at Mar-A-Lago on Tuesday with Attorney General candidate Matt DePERNO. Carra showed up on stage with Trump when he did a cattle call of all the political people running for office; however, the former President didn't seem to recognize the first-term state representative.

Carra didn't respond when contacted for comment.

Carra put out a press release today with the slogan "Trump endorsed conservative fighter" under his name. That press release called on Upton to drop out of the 4th Congressional District primary after voting in favor of gun control.

Upton hasn't officially announced his re-election plans, but has already cut one television ad.
