There is a 12-point gap between Democratic voters (83%) who say they are “very enthusiastic” about the elections, and Republicans (71%).

(Source: MIRS.news, Published 09/16/2024) U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Holly) is leading Republican former Congressman Mike Rogers 48 to 45 percent due in large part to her near unanimity among Democratic voters, according to Mitchell Research and Communications polling conducted last week for MIRS.

Slotkin is supported by 95% of Democratic voters while Rogers is supported by 87 percent by Republican voters. Rogers leads 45 to 42 percent among independents, according to Steve Mitchell of Mitchell Research and Communications.

The polling also shows that Democrats are more enthusiastic than Republicans going into the Nov. 6 election. There is a 12-point gap between Democratic voters (83%) who say they are “very enthusiastic” about the elections, and Republicans (71%).

Other interesting notes from the Sept. 11 poll include:

 - Only 26 (4 percent) of the 580 voters surveyed were undecided in the presidential race in a two-way ballot test. Mitchell concedes that 26 voters is too small to make it a valid sub-sample, but he still found it interesting that only 34% of these voters are “very enthusiastic” about voting in the election.

“This lack of enthusiasm coupled with their dislike of both candidates could mean they don't vote at all in November,” Mitchell wrote.

However, Mitchell said as he looked at the answers of these 26 voters, he found these voters resembled Republicans more often than Democrats.

 - Almost all (98%) of undecided voters are white. None of them are African-American.

 - Democrat Kamala Harris leads among voters with a master's degree or more, 63 to 30 percent.

 - Republican Donald Trump leads among white voters 51 to 43 percent. Harris leads among Black voters 82 to 18 percent.
