(Source: MIRS.news, Published 10/15/2024) U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Holly) brought in an eye-popping $15 million this quarter, with her Republican opponent Mike Rogers raising $3 million, according to data compiled by MIRS.

This brings Slotkin's contributions for the cycle to $36 million with no debt, and Rogers' cycle contributions to $7.9 million.

The October quarterly period covers July 18 through Sept. 30. Besides U.S. Senate candidates, MI-8 Democratic nominee Kristen McDonald Rivet (D-Bay City) led congressional candidates with $2.9 million in contributions this period, next in line being 7th Congressional district candidate Curtis Hertel with $2.2 million, and third being his Republican opponent, Tom Barrett, with $1.3 million raised this period.

Next up would be Carl Marlinga, a Democratic challenger in the 10th Congressional district who raised $1.3 million. The incumbent U.S. Rep. John James (R-Shelby Township) trailed him with $1.1 million this cycle. He has $2.5 million in cash on hand.

Two Republican U.S. Senate candidates that dropped out of the race long before the primary, former U.S. Rep. Peter Meijer and Michael Hoover, brought in zero dollars in this period.

Three candidates brought in negative contributions. Anil Kumar and Adam Hollier each reported approximately -$2,500 in contributions, and Matt Collier reported -$20,599. They have all either lost their primaries or dropped out before then.

Far and away, the candidate with the most debt is Paul Junge, with $2.3 million in debt. He was able to bring in $69,464.92 this period in contributions and spent $54,364.45. As it stands, he has $1.1 million cash on hand. Sixteen candidates that MIRS tracked had $0 in debt.

Slotkin‘s U.S. Senate campaign comes in second in cash in hand only to U.S. Rep. Rashida TLAIB (D-Detroit), raising $4 million and $4.2 million, respectively.

In her unsuccessful effort to unseat incumbent U.S. Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-Detroit) in the Democratic primary, Mary WATERS was able to bring in $38,355 compared to his $173,888, and spent $50,896 this period while Thanedar spent half a million. She’s left with $13,444 on hand and is $4,780 in debt.

The finances of Thanedar's Republican challenger, Martell BIVINGS, are more comparable to Waters' fundraising. He brought in $34,897 this quarter and spent $31,160. He has $16,024 in cash on hand.
