Is Karamo Doing The Work Of God?

(Source: MIRS.news, Published 01/18/2024) A trolling email using the moniker “Unshackle the Mitten” asked Republican precinct delegates in a mass Wednesday email if they stand with disputed Michigan Republican Party Chair Kristina Karamo so she can “continue the work of God.”

The other option was “No, let the RINO's and Deep State have the party back."

MIRS has learned that of the 427 responses the entity received, 352 (82 percent) supported the disputed chair's work on behalf of the higher power.

The email and its parent website, UnshackletheMitten.org is a parody account aimed at right-wing activist C.J. Richard's Telegram channel Unshackle the Mitten.

The email begins by telling recipients that members of Unshackle Michigan believe with our “hearts and souls” that disputed Michigan Republican Party Chair Kristina Karamo “has been ordained by God to put an end to human trafficking.”

“Kristina has been under attack by the deep state cabal and RINOs since before she even took office. They planned a non-violent insurrection on Jan. 6th to try to remove God's ordained child from the mighty throne of the Michigan GOP,” reads the email, a reference to the Jan. 6 State Committee meeting where Karamo was debatably removed as chair.

Allor Voted Out As Chair of MIGOP's 1st District

Former Rep. Sue Allor was voted out of her position as chair of the Michigan Republican Party's 1st District Thursday evening 15-0 by members of the entity's executive committee. The dismissal came in large part for Allor's decision to bring at least three proxies to a Jan. 6 meeting of the Republican State Committee in which Chair Kristina Karamo was allegedly voted out of office.

Those looking to remove Allor needed 75 percent of the members of the 1st District executive committee present. Of the 23 possible members, 16 showed up. Fifteen voted yes and one abstained.

Executive committee member Dan Bonamie said Allor showed a lack of leadership prior to “hijacking our votes and then putting up that sham vote at the State Committee meeting.”

“Today is the grassroots of Michigan coming forward and telling the Michigan Republican Party that we're here to stay and we're in control,” Bonamie said. A new chair will be selected next week.

Allor did not dispute the results and indicated that she would step aside from the chair position.

Karamo Faction Issues Cease and Desist Letters Against Pego GOP Leadership

Three cease and desist letters have been issued for copyright infringement, trademark infringement and defamation of character for libel and/or slander by the Karamo faction of the Michigan Republican Party (MRP) to chair-hopefuls Lena Epstein, Peter Hoekstra and Vance Patrick as well as individuals associated with the Jan. 6 vote to remove Kristina Karamo as chair of the organization.

The letters state the recipients could be liable for statutory damages as high as $150,000 for copyright infringement. They were signed by Jim Copas, the executive director of the party whose removal vote passed along with Karamo’s, General Counsel Dan Hartman (another allegedly deposed officer) and Karamo.

Various state committee and district committee members were addressed in the letters: Anne Delisle, Matt DePerno, JD Glaser, Dan Lawless, Bree Moeggenberg, Malinda Pego, Tim Ross and Andy Sebolt, though Sebolt’s name was spelled wrong.

The copyright infringement they cite includes “fraudulent and unauthorized communications, publications, meetings, events and other related activities claiming to be MIGOP and/or the Michigan Republican Party.”

Another letter states that the recipients “have been maliciously spreading inaccurate and unfounded information that is damaging to the personal and professional character and the reputation of the aforementioned parties” for their defamation of character claim.

The last letter, regarding trademark infringement, says the recipients are making unauthorized use of the trademarks that cause confusion in the public marketplace.

Karamo held a special state committee meeting on her own on Saturday where the body allegedly removed several individuals listed as recipients from the State Committee including DeLisle, Glaser, Lawless, Moeggenberg, Pego and Sebolt.

“Please understand the trouble they would have sending us a cease-and-desist when they have already been removed. Furthermore, if they were legit, they illegitimately removed us and would then suffer the consequences of their failure to uphold the bylaws and follow proper procedure,” Moeggenberg told MIRS.

Moeggenberg added that she hadn’t received direct communication from Karamo notifying her of her alleged removal.

“With all the confusing emails, I’m not sure which ones to believe,” she said.

The letters state that if the recipients do not comply, the senders will consider taking “any and all legal remedies available to rectify this situation.”

Watching all this is Sen. Ed McBroom (R-Waucedah Twp.), who has gone a round or two with Karamo as the Senate Oversight Committee chair who penned a report that said no evidence of widespread voter fraud cost Donald Trump the 2020 election. Karamo's political career was propelled by this claim.

“They have made more effort and communication in the last 10 days than they made in the preceding 10 months,” McBroom said. “There was even a fundraising letter. Now Kristina and company also want to fundraise by threatening the homes and personal liability of anyone who doesn't believe she's still chairwoman. So ironic since they accuse me of threatening non-believers.”
